Professional Staff
Alix J. Brewer is responsible for coding, and instrument development. She is a clinical social worker whose academic interests include trauma and resiliency as well as the impact of environmental stressors and learning disabilities on school performance and quality of peer interaction. Prior to coming to Virginia, Alix spent several years as a school social worker. She then worked managing assessments at the Preschool Language and Literacy Lab at UVa before joining the Social Development Lab in January 2008. Alix enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, and three-year-old sons, Max and Nathan, sharing meals with friends, writing, painting and running.

Julia Broderick Thomas is our Lab Manager. She is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the lab, and organizing our coding and data management efforts. Julia joined our lab after working as an IT Audit Manager in Mclean, VA. She enjoys renovating her home with her husband, Matt, learning about green building techniques and materials, traveling, and enjoying time with family and friends.

Jennifer Williams is the Project Coordinator for the Responsive Classroom Efficacy Study. She works, and is responsible for all on-site study activities. Jennifer brings prior experience as a community health educator and elementary classroom volunteer to the study. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, and being an active member of Red Sox Nation.

Abby Moncrief is the on-site Research Specialist for the Responsive Classroom Efficacy Study. She is responsible for the daily operations of the study. Abby graduated from the University of Virginia and is very excited to be working for her alma mater. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, trying new restaurants, and exercising.
